An article in the Journal of Sport and Health Science reports a study that shows that learning new “Martial Movement™” techniques and kata, which includes physical as well as cognitive components, in karate training are improved. Furthermore, we assume that karate training in older adults could have an additional effect: the reduction of falling risk. This is due to the relation between cognitive abilities and falling riskand the training of balance and leg muscles by karate exercises.
