
Meet Kevin Grey – 22 Years Old and on a Journey of Self-Improvement
When Kevin first joined the Port Credit Academy of Martial Arts, he was looking for two things: the ability to protect himself and a way to stay fit. Two years later, as a Junior Blue Belt, he’s discovered that martial arts has given him much more than he ever expected.
Why Martial Arts?
Kevin wanted to know how to defend himself – not just with techniques, but with the confidence to handle any situation. He also wanted to build strength and fitness, not just to protect himself, but to take care of the people he loves. Training in martial arts gave him that and so much more.
Strength in Body, Mind, and Spirit
Since starting his journey at the dojo, Kevin has noticed changes beyond just physical strength. He feels mentally and emotionally stronger, more confident when talking to people, and prepared to handle challenges in everyday life. The sense of community and the friendships he’s made along the way make every training session rewarding.
The Art of Weapons Training
One of Kevin’s favorite parts of training is working with weapons. Starting out, he learned how to defend himself using just his arms and legs – mastering close-range combat. But once weapons were introduced, he learned how to defend himself at a distance, which added a whole new dimension to his skills.
